Two-Day Physiotherapy Seminar on Modern Models of Research

A Two Days Seminar is being organized by the School of Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences of Shri Guru Ram Rai University. Specialists are sharing the knowledge in the two days seminar on the topic, ‘The Art and Science of Research in Physiotherapy’. In this Seminar which is being organized with the assistance of IQAC Cell of SGRRU, more than 400 Physiotherapy students, Ph.D. researchers, faculties and doctors are participating.

On Wednesday, at the seminar hall of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, the Seminar was initiated by Shri Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University’s Physiotherapy Deptt.’s Prof. (Dr.) Siddhartha Sen, Shri Guru Ram Rai University’s Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Kumud Saklani, Coordinator Dr. R.P. Singh, Dean, School of Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences, Prof. (Dr.) Keerti Singh, Hod Deptt. of Physiotherapy, Dr. Sharda Sharma and Prof. (Dr.) Niraj Kumar jointly by lamp lighting.

Chief Speaker Shri Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University, Gurugram, Haryana’s Physiotherapy Deptt.’s Prof. (Dr.) Siddhartha Sen in lecture threw light over the significance of research in the subject of Physiotherapy. He explained in detail the various steps of the research. He informed that the First Step of Research is Identification of the Problem, Second Step is Review of Literature, Third Step is Postulation (creation) of hypothesis assumptions based on the Aims and Objectives of the research, Fourth Step is Identification of Research Design, Fifth Step is Data Collection, Sixth Step is Analyze the data by Statistical methods, Seventh Step is Write the results of the analysis, Eight Step is Discuss the results and the Ninth Step is Conclusion about the whole Research. He explained that the scope of research in Physiotherapy is very wide because Physiotherapy is used in the treatment of diseases of Ortho, Neuro, Cardio, Obs & Gyn and so many other diseases. He said that Physiotherapy Research is directly associated with Engineering. He said that Physiotherapy research provides guidance to the engineers while designing the Physiotherapy equipments. He enhanced the knowledge of Physiotherapy students, Ph.D. researchers, faculties and doctors by answering their queries.

Prof. (Dr.) Kumud Saklani welcomed the chief speaker on behalf of SGRR University. She said that Physiotherapy is a distinct speciality of its kind. She said that research in physiotherapy can result in speedy treatment of many diseases. She is that this seminar is a unique platform for the Physiotherapy students and Ph.D. researchers. 

Dr. R.P. Singh said that Physiotherapy functions on the principle of ‘Prevention is better than Cure’. He said that research is to deep study something that exists and to find out that to what extent it is functional. 

Prof. (Dr.) Keerti Singh said that organizing this seminar is a remarkable initiative of Deptt. of Physiotherapy. She said that just like in other disciplines, research is extremely important in the discipline of Physiotherapy.

Significant roles were played by Dr. Shama Parveen, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Manjul Nautiyal, Dr. Tabassum, Dr. Surbhi Thapliyal, Dr. Ravinder, Dr. Deepa and Dr. Jaydev in making the seminar a success.
